Drawing and Illustration Class - Week 4

This weeks drawing challenge was more about finding our own style. We did this by designing a 1st and 2nd class stamp that celebrates Yorkshire Day, preferably associated with food.
We had to pick out illustrators that inspire us, I picked out a few, but picked Louise Lockharts style to try and recreate.
I used a stencilling and sponge technique to do this.
I pretty happy with the outcome.
I did the 2nd class stamp at home for homework but wasn't has happy with it as the first one.
For next week we have to research a magazine that is food related to bring in for next weeks class.

Make it in Design - Summer School, Creative Brief 1

I have been trying to get back into some design work, but it's really hard to be self motivated. Whilst scouring the Internet for inspiration a came across Make it in Design School. They host a series of modules online that can really provide you with the tools to actually make it in design. Module one doesn't start until September so in the mean time I signed up to thier Summer school. Summer school is for four weeks in July, you can sign up to beginner, intermediate or advance track or even all three. They send you briefs and deadlines weekly.

I would have loved to do all three tracks but between running the cafe and my illustration classes I knew I wouldn't have time to but a good effort into all three so I just started slow and steady and took the beginner track.

Not to give too much away but the first brief was based on soft pop / retro, and this is what I completed for the first brief.

Favourite Designer of the Week - Patrick Edgeley

I love that Patrick Edgeley uses inspiration from mid-century kitchenware for his designs.

Drawing and Illustration Class - Week 3

Drawing and illustration class this week was about scale and perspective. I'm learning as a go through the weeks that I do not have the patience for really accurate drawing, although it is really good to learn some techniques for drawing more accurately.
The homework is to research artists and illustrators we like for a project next week which is to design a stamp to celebrate Yorkshire Day based on food and drink.
